About a month ago, I had my first experience with the CouchSurfing.org community by joining a couple of members on a road trip to New Jersey. I ended up having the time of my life and made many new wonderful friends. And this past weekend, I had the opportunity to have another weekend with the same crew along with some new CS people. I even met a guy who could be part of my family!
It started out rough (flat tire at 2 AM, sleeping in a Canadian Tire parking lot in a van for repair), but we made it safe and sound.
Some highlights from the trip: My first aurora borealis sighting, the milky way in the sky, sleeping 7 people in a van in a Canadian Tire parking lot, shooting stars, sleeping 17 people in a yurt for 10 people, fire hazard in a yurt, taking over a dorm kitchen, being the life of the party at Sea Shack, teaching people how to mince garlic like a ninja…
Meeting up with these CouchSurfers has opened my eyes and mind tremendously. I caught the traveling bug, I became less shy, I’m learning so much more about myself and I’m meeting great people along the way. This summer, I have grown.
